Step 1: Prepare for hand washing. Our
weather-resistant rope hammocks feels as soft as cotton, but much
more durable. Periodic cleaning will keep your hammock looking and
performing its best. To clean a Polyester Rope Hammock or DuraCord
Rope Hammock, you’ll need a bucket of warm water, a dose of mild
liquid detergent, a soft-bristled brush or sponge, a garden hose and
a tarp.
Step 2: Shake out. First, shake out your
hammock outside to remove any pollen, leaves or debris.
Step 3: Lay it flat. Now, spread your
hammock out on the tarp or on a clean, flat surface. There’s no need
to take the hammock apart. Tip: A kiddie pool can also work - simply
drape spreader bars over the sides.
Step 4: Soak the hammock. Thoroughly hose
down the hammock bed. Be sure to keep the spreader bars dry and out
of the water. Do not use a pressure washer – it exerts too much
force and can damage the fibers.
Step 5: Gently brush. Now pour on some of
the mild soap and water solution and gently brush to work out any
stains. Tip: For best results, let it soak in soapy water for an
hour before brushing.
Step 6: Hose off excess soap. Hose or rinse
thoroughly to remove any excess soap. You may need to repeat a few
times until the water is clear.
Step 7: Flip over. Flip the hammock over and
clean the other side, if needed. Gently brush with the soapy water
mix and then rinse with clean water.
Step 8: Air dry on flat surface. Allow your
hammock to air dry on a flat surface so the rope doesn’t stretch
while drying.
Step 9: Now you’re ready to get out there
and relax Once thoroughly dry, it’s ready to store away or hang back
up. Re-install in accordance to instructions.
